This mural was part of the 2015/2016 Paint and Poetry series. Illustrator Duncan Robertson is known for his editorial work, large-scale murals, and poster design. For this project, Robertson designed a mural that portrays musicians, the Claudius Crozet tunnel, and surrounding landscape of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The lyrics included in this mural are from Alynda Lee Segarra’s “Small Town Heroes” album opener “Blue Ridge Mountain,” an Appalachian nod to May-belle Carter, a Virginia native.
